How do you get in and out of bed after your Mummy Makeover?

Easy does it, lovely.

A mummy makeover usually consists of a tummy tuck and a breast surgery (reduction, lift, augmentation for example). You might also have a tummy tuck on its own, with no breast surgery.  In either case, you'll struggle getting in and out of bed for a number of reasons.

Firstly, as part of the tummy tuck, you'll find that the skin is so tight across your abdomen that you are not able to stand up straight.  You might actually find that your bent forwards and restricted in your movement for a number of weeks following surgery.  This can really impact getting in and out of bed, couple that with breast surgery and you're now unable to use your arms to lift yourself up and you might find you're in struggle street.
The below video is a great little demonstration that one of our clients produced showing the technique she found most useful getting in and out of bed.  She also had the use of our boomerang and neck pillows and our foot stool from our mummy makeover recovery pack to make it more manageable.
A good tip to help you post tummy tuck, is to spend the month before your surgery preparing your abs to support this movement for you.  A good ab workout regime even for 10 minutes every day in the weeks prior to surgery, will have a significant impact to your strength. (It's recommended to cease all ab training at least 2 weeks prior to your surgery. )
Our amazing Melbourne Patient Concierge demonstrates how to do it so you can alleviate as much discomfort as possible.  As part of our mummy makeover recovery pack, we also provide a little step which is super helpful for getting your legs closer to the bed as well and really helps immensely with getting out again.  If you're booking the lovely Bianca to support you after your surgery in Melbourne, she'll guide you through this gently until you've mastered it.

Setting up your bed for your smooth recovery is simple.  Use these photos as a guide.  If you need nay help at all, or have any questions, please don't hesitate to get in touch with us.
